The three-storey temporary school building was constructed on the existing car park on the north-western edge of the school complex. It is designed as a split-level system with a footprint of 41.40 x 23.00 metres. The floor plan includes 14 classrooms and 3 multi-classrooms as well as 2 group rooms and a teachers’ room. At the end of the central corridor there are additional workspaces for students. In accordance with the internal organisational principle, the compact volume on the outside is structured by the two spatial layers of the classrooms and the corridor zone between them, narrowing slightly at the front. The building is made entirely of wood. The only exceptions are the foundation and the floor slabs of the ground floor, which are made from in-situ concrete. The choice of wood as a building material and the optimised construction method made it possible to take various property-specific aspects into account, such as the design as a three-storey temporary facility, high flexibility, ecological and economic considerations, and consistent system separation. The statically, constructively developed design was consistently implemented in terms of architecture and timber construction. The primary support structure is based on four load-bearing axes, consisting of the longitudinal outer walls and the corridor walls. The ceiling and/or roof elements are supported across these. They are prefabricated as hollow box girders and the outer walls as insulated wooden elements. The load-bearing and bracing interior walls are made of cross-laminated timber panels, while the remaining interior walls are made of planked timber frame constructions. The façades are also made of wood. The silver fir used is treated with a greyish weather protection glaze. The window casements are clad with colourless anodised, lightly sanded aluminium. The entrance area is located directly at the main access point to the school complex from Lüssiweg. It is marked by the slightly sunken access frontage on the ground floor.
